What is a watch party app?
A watch party app helps people watch the same video online at roughly the same time. LofiCouch adds a private room around that experience, with host-led playback, voice chat, text chat, reactions, invitations, members, and a shared queue.
Is LofiCouch free?
Yes. All current LofiCouch features are free. Netflix, JioHotstar, Crunchyroll, or other video providers may still require their own subscriptions or account access.
How many people can join a LofiCouch room?
A room supports four participants in total: one host and up to three guests.
Do guests need a LofiCouch account?
Not always. Guests can join code-only rooms without signing in. Friends-only rooms can be joined only by signed-in users who are already on the host's LofiCouch friends list.
Which video services does LofiCouch support?
YouTube and shareable Google Drive videos can play inside the room. Netflix, JioHotstar, and Crunchyroll use the LofiCouch desktop browser extension while every participant watches through their own provider account.
Do I need the extension for YouTube or Google Drive?
No. YouTube and shareable Google Drive videos can play directly inside a LofiCouch room when the video is available and accessible to the group. The extension is used for supported protected streaming services.
Does LofiCouch guarantee perfect synchronization?
No browser-based watch-party tool can guarantee perfect synchronization under every condition. LofiCouch keeps guests close to the host's playback state, but buffering, advertisements, browser behavior, provider pages, and network conditions can cause brief differences.
What affects sync quality?
Autoplay restrictions, internet speed, buffering, provider login prompts, regional availability, advertisements, individual stream differences, provider interface changes, and video permissions can affect timing. The room works best when one host handles playback and guests use voice, chat, and reactions for the social part of the night.
Does LofiCouch restream Netflix, JioHotstar, or Crunchyroll?
No. LofiCouch does not proxy, download, decrypt, capture, or restream protected video. Each participant watches through the provider's website using their own account and access.

YouTube: Search YouTube without leaving the room or paste a video link. Build a shared queue for trailers, music videos, interviews, lessons, recaps, or a casual group rabbit hole.
Google Drive: Paste a shareable Google Drive video link to watch private files, class recordings, edits, or personal videos with your group. The file must be processed, playable, and shared with everyone who needs access.
Netflix: Create a LofiCouch room, pair the desktop browser extension, and watch through each participant's own Netflix account. Netflix remains in the provider tab while LofiCouch keeps the room and social experience together.
JioHotstar: Use extension-based sync for JioHotstar movie, series, or sports-related sessions. Each participant uses their own JioHotstar access. Ads, buffering, and differences between individual streams may temporarily affect timing.
Crunchyroll: Host a private anime watch party with voice, chat, reactions, and a shared queue for openings, trailers, recaps, or the next video. Each participant watches through their own Crunchyroll access.
