What kind of Drive link do I need?
Use a link that allows every intended participant to open and play the video. The exact sharing setting depends on whether you want link-based access or access limited to specific Google accounts.
How do room access and Drive file access work?
A LofiCouch room invite and Google Drive file permission are separate. Choose who can enter the room, then make sure every viewer can open the file. Anyone with the link is simplest when everyone invited should be able to watch, while specific-people sharing gives tighter control but requires each participant to be granted access and signed in to the correct Google account. Test the link in a private browser window or outside the owner’s account before inviting the group.
Does joining the room give me access to the file?
No. LofiCouch room access and Google Drive file access are separate.
Why can one participant play the video while another cannot?
They may have different Drive permissions, be signed in to different Google accounts, or be opening a file that has not finished processing.
Does LofiCouch upload or host my video?
No. The file remains in Google Drive and stays governed by Drive’s permissions and playback rules.
How do I prepare a newly uploaded Drive video?
Google Drive may need time to process a new upload before it plays reliably. Before the session, open the video yourself, confirm that playback and seeking work, test access outside the owner’s account, and keep a backup video ready when the session matters. LofiCouch cannot speed up Drive processing or unlock a file that Google Drive cannot play.
Why is my new video not playing yet?
Google Drive may still be processing the upload. Wait until the video plays reliably in the browser before starting the room.
Does LofiCouch guarantee perfect synchronization?
No. LofiCouch keeps guests close to the host’s playback state, but buffering, processing, permissions, and network conditions may affect timing.
